Download and Install: Download Google Family Link from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iPhone. Install the app on both your device and your child’s device. Set Up Your Account: Open the app on your device and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your account. Connect Your Child's Device: Once your account is set up, follow the instructions to connect your child's device to Family Link. Manage App Permissions: Use Family Link to approve or block apps that your child wants to download from the Google Play Store. You can also view and manage the apps already installed on their device. Set Screen Time Limits: In the app, navigate to the "Daily limits" section to set screen time restrictions for your child’s device. You can set limits for specific apps or overall device usage, helping to balance screen time with other activities. Set Bedtime and Lock Devices: Set a bedtime for your child's device to automatically lock at night, ensuring they get the rest they need. You can also lock their device remotely at any time from your Family Link app if it’s time for a break or to focus on other tasks. Monitor App Usage: View reports on how much time your child spends on their favorite apps with daily, weekly, or monthly activity summaries. This helps you understand their usage patterns and have informed discussions about healthy screen habits. Locate Your Child's Device: Family Link provides location tracking, allowing you to see where your child’s device is located. This feature is useful for keeping an eye on your child’s whereabouts when they’re out and about. Manage Account Settings: Access additional settings, such as managing content filters, setting up purchase approvals for in-app purchases, and adjusting privacy settings to ensure your child’s online safety. Discuss Digital Safety: Use Family Link as a tool to have ongoing conversations with your child about digital safety, privacy, and responsible device usage. Encourage them to be mindful of their screen time and to use their devices in a balanced way.
